If you’re on the fence about getting a dog, here are 10 reasons for your to consider getting off that fence. But remember, be 100% sure that you’re ready for a dog before you adopt.
I’ll start. No particular order.
#1) A reason to get up in the morning.
When I was a little girl, my mom told me, “I don’t have time to get sick or hurt. I have to take care of and love you.” That’s why I’m a pup mommy.
#2) You learn what unconditional love is.
No judgment on how you look. Forgiveness no matter what you say or do. A kiss and paw always at your side.
#3) A dog’s eyes mirrors its soul and it changes you
When you look into their eyes, you find your own soul. And you become the better for it.
#4) You are your dog’s everything.
You discover a sense of self-worth you never knew you had before. Your dog sees in you what you can’t and teaches you to be a better person.
#5) You discover a living, breathing being more important than yourself.
How a furball can make a grown-up cry and comfort a child in distress.
#6) You go without so they can have, and find it doesn’t bother you.
#7) To find laughter and joy in the little things.
How your dog always finds the muddiest puddles, or a stick twice its size to bring to you.
#8) That happiness comes from giving.
Honoring your own dog by donating time or $ to help other pups who haven’t yet found their special someone.
#9) They will always be there for you.
No matter the rough and tumbles of life, they will always be at your side, stand guard, and be a willing head on your lap, or paw on your arm.
#10) To understand that grief expands your heart and opens it for another in need.
When you’ve lost your best friend, and say you won’t have another because it hurts too much, remember those eyes, that soul you looked into, and the meaning those eyes and soul gave to your life.
That’s a wrap. What did I leave out? What are your reasons for having your best friend in your life?
