This company’s products are Made in America, and I have two of their collars and leashes that I bought 12 years ago for my Shepherds. They’ve now been handed down to two more Shepherds. Very well made, crystals have never broken or fallen off. Definitely a statement piece.

Collars and Leashes
Puppia Harness
I have these harnesses for my Boston Terriers. I’ve tried different types/brands, but keep coming back to Puppia because of the material. No rubbing and creating sore spots on your dog. Also sturdy and washable. I’ve had mine for years. Be sure to measure so you get the right size.
TRAINING – Herm Sprenger Collar
The original prong collar and still the best in durability and safety. Do not be afraid of these, because they won’t hurt your dog when used correctly. A quick correction is 10x better than the dog pulling and damaging its trachea/windpipe.
TRAINING – Garmin e-collar
Another misunderstood training tool, and not for every dog. When you have an “out-of-control” dog who endangers your safety or others with his/her behavior, this collar with professional instruction, will save the life of your dog and teach him to be a canine good citizen. Have used these on my Shepherds to stave off bad behavior and get their attention. Not for everyday use.
TRAINING – Sportdog
Similar to the Garmin, I used this on my Doberman with success to stop unnecessary, unwarranted barking. Dogs learn quickly what is expected, and were trained on very low settings.
Interactive Dog Toys
Nina Ottosson
I have 3 Ottosson toys and my pups love them. You may have to show them what’s expected and help them at first, but they quickly catch on especially if you their favorite treats hidden inside. Durable and washable, the toys come in many different design puzzles.
Dog Outerwear
Dover Saddlery
I have two of these for my Shepherds. Thick plush pile on the inside with a waterproof outer side. Dogs are still able to run, walk, etc. Very similar to a horse turnout coat, I found these when I was still riding years ago. Easy to put on and stay on.
With Congratulations Dog Sweaters
When looking for a dog sweater, consider the climate you’re in and choose the yarn/weave weight that will keep your pup nice and toasty in the cold weather. Here in the Midwest, the cold and snow can play havoc with the short-haired dogs, so these sweaters, lovingly hand-made will keep your pups warm.
For Older Dogs
Dog Beds 4 Less - Specializing in Ortho Dog Beds
After all the ortho beds I’ve tried, I finally found something that my pups found comfortable and soft. I initially bought two of these beds for my 10-year-old female German Shepherds, but after their passing, are now used by my 6- and 2-year-old Shepherds. Great support, washable cover, and inner liner. Holds up well after 3 years and counting.
Help ‘Em Up Harness
This harness has been a godsend for me since 2014 when the Veterinary Hospital put one on Olympia after her spinal surgery. Seven years later, they’re just like new. I’ve used them on both Olympia and her GSD sister, Czarina. They’re well-constructed, sturdy, durable, and washable. Easy to put on and fasten, and the dogs don’t mind them. With the perpendicular handles on the back and hip, easy to lift whether into the car or just helping them to stand.
Cleanup
Pristine Pet
In 30+ years, I’ve tried just about every cleaner on the market, as well as home brews. I saw this on Instagram and decided to try it. Fantastic! One of the best cleaners out there, but you have to know how to use it. Spray it on the stain and let it soak in. If you’re using it full strength, suggest you wear a mask. It’s not toxic, but it’s strong. And it gets the job done.
Health and Wellness
Vetericyn
My girlfriend uses this product on her horses and clued me into it. I’ve used this on my pups now for the last 16 years and the product is great. Whether lick wounds, scratches, itchy skin. Works great, you can spray it just about anywhere (no eyes, haven’t used it there). No stinging, and the dogs don’t mind it. You don’t have to wait long to start seeing results. A number of products are available from this company.
Sore No-More
While this appears to be only for horses, it’s not. I’ve used this on my pups and myself. It’s a predominantly herbal medication (Arnica, lavender, rosemary, lobelia, and xanthum gum) and it relieves muscle soreness, aches, and pains. So before you run to the vet, if your pup is sore, try this (and/or the Vetericyn).
Cosequin
Many people, including myself, started using this on their pups when they started aging and slowing down. Now I’m using it on my 2-year-old Shepherd, as well as my other pups because I want to ensure good joint health from an early age. I put it in their food and the best part is that they eat it!
